the tale of this princess begins long before her birth, in the streets of mexico city. a girl called eleonora would spend hours drawing on her notebooks — gowns, dresses, blouses and skirts. fashion that would change the world, if only she were a given a chance. that chance would soon come, in the form of a marriage. a facade marriage, but a marriage nonetheless. all it would take? accepting to be faithful to a man who could never love her back, harold waldorf. they met in cancun, when eleonora was working at a resort. he was spending summer with his family. charmed by her dreams and her beauty, he made her a proposal. they would move to the united states & she would be an american citizen. a friendship was forged, wedding soon followed, the world introduced to eleanor waldorf ( name exchanged in order to leave the past behind ) and eight months later, their daughter, blair cornelia waldorf.the daughter of an unknown man ( or so eleanor claimed her entire life ), blair was born with a silver spoon in her lips and a crown in her head. it was a cold november morning when her first cries echoed around manhattan, many say a harbinger to the person she would become / the ice queen bee of the upper east side. the heiress to a fashion empire built by her mother, the first latina woman to succeed in american couture, and the daughter of one of new york’s most influential accountants, it was no wonder the girl was always granted everything she ever wanted. however, she was always surrounded by lies from the day she was born — pediatrician paid off to lie and say the girl had been born premature as to hide eleanor’s cheating scandal. that, combined with her parents’ faux romance, it is no wonder that blair waldorf grew to be a mastermind of manipulation and lies.
alongside the wealth came the connections. kindergarten best friends, serena van der woodsen was a constant presence in blair’s life. having found comfort in lily’s company, eleanor always encouraged her daughter to become best friends with the other’s daughter. not that it was needed. serena and blair’s bond was almost instant — the type that would last ages, despite all adversities and fights. they were more alike than they cared to admit and it did mean they fought more often than not, but in the end, they were sisters. the reason for most of their arguments, however? the third component of their non-judgmental breakfast club — nathaniel archibald.

much like serena, blair could not recall a time when nate was not in her life. he was the prince charming to her cinderella, the boy of her dreams — and needless to add, the boy of eleanor and harold’s dreams too. ever since a young age, the pair had been gently pushed together by both of their families. though, at some point, it was not needed, for they were drawn together naturally. in fact, they would discuss their future from a young age, making plans to go to her debutante ball when they were just ten. not to mention, blair was blindly in love — dreaming of marrying him ever since her child days.their trio became a foursome with charles bass, another illustrious figure in blair’s childhood. while her memories with chuck were not particularly memorable, she would be lying if she said her growing up would have been the same without him. together, the four of them were a team. perhaps not the most dynamic of groups, bonded by ever - growing secrets, lying & manipulation that grew as years passed on, but still a group nonetheless. a team that was never parted, until serena left for boarding school without so much as goodbye.it was the beginning of the spiraling of blair waldorf. followed by the divorce of her parents. it did come off as a surprise, despite the constant lying and manipulating. the deal made between eleanor and harold in that hot summer in mexico was a secret to blair, but it seemed to have been forgotten by eleanor herself — who saw herself falling for her husband ( and best friend ) despite knowing he could never love her back. it was then that blair’s world fell apart. divided between by her mother & her father, not quite sure who to turn to. her best friend gone, her father a cheater and things continued to spiral out of control.a former habit resurfaced — girl perfection, girl controlling. what happens when a control freak loses control? the overwhelming pressure to get everything back under her sway, something had to break… and something did break. her own mental health, again. the need to look perfect in order to pretend everything was perfect. old habits die hard, after all.those were long months of loneliness. the absence of serena, nate’s distance, harold moving to france. yet, much like everything else in her life, blair managed to get over it. and when it all was back to normal, serena waltzed into her mother’s party — picture posted in gossip girl for everyone to see. she wanted to be happy her best friend had returned, but how could she when it brought back nothing but bittersweet memories? little did she know, serena’s return would bring a lot more than that.
